So on Monday we went to see The French Dispatch. I had completely forgotten about Wes Anderson's doll house way of moving from room to room. It brought me back to Jacques Tati as well.
And then these

This feels very much like lifting the roof of a doll house.

When cooking, the chef is always shown from this point of view I believe. We are clearly not allowed in the kitchen, allowed only this window into his world, watching the preparation like we would be a show on a screen or a painting on a wall. The box aspect of these scenes is very prominent I think.

Two boxes next to each other.

Hello M. Tati

What do I make of this? Tati and Anderson have this thing about settings, what they say, how they are shown, how the characters evolve in them, how the camera works around them. Going back to their films with this very particular doll house and room to room transition questions in mind might help me think about a 3D idea...
